Writing & Design Portfolio

Here you'll find varying digital media and writing samples from my past few academic years and a description on the goal for each project!

P.S. - My favorites are in my IWAD Portfolio and my mock Film proposal!

Integrating Writing & Design Portfolio

In this course, we focused on the intentional combanation of writing and design. This portfolio includes my favorite pieces I created, and some of the revisions I made.

I am most proud of my magazine spreads and covers - I feel that I was really able to make them look as if they were professional bodies of work. Writing copy, and mimicking and creating aesthetics has been really exciting, and this class allowed me to explore this kind of work.

Edited Personal Narrative

In my Journalism class, we spent the semester writing multiple personal narrative pieces and interview style long form narratives. This is my revised (red) personal narrative about a very true and unfortunate happenstance from my past.

I spent a lot of time writing this to be emotionally compelling, engaging, and personal all at once. It's raw and real, but also, I think, a pretty good piece of narrative.

Film Proposal

For my Screenwriting class, we spent the semester writing the script for a short film & then mock pitched our film idea to the class - here you'll be able to take a look at my proposal for my short film "These Boots Were Made For Stalking".

I'm proud of the aesthetic and tone I was able to capture through the imagery, language, and coloration in the pages of the document.

Writing For

The Public

Final Document

In contrast to my film proposal, here is an example of one of my earliest bodies of work.

The goal was to create a document that could be published to reach and persuade our peers to lean toward the perspective of our chosen topic.

I wrote about the need for more creative spaces and resources at the University of Pittsburgh. While the overall graphic design is lightyears behind what I would go on to create (see Film Proposal above), it was still one of my longer projects, and I am proud of it nontheless.

Press Release Writing Sample

In my Public Relations Writing course, we worked on mainly collaborative pieces to act as Public Relations representatives for varying brands of our choosing. In this piece - one of my solo endeavors - I wrote a mock-up press release to highlight the upcoming Olivia Wilde film "Don't Worry Darling" and its casting decision to replace Shia LaBeouf with Harry Styles.

As I am a fan of cinema and music (especially Harry Styles) this was a fun writing topic, and I was able to explore the varying facets of what a Press Release should look like and entail before it is sent out to the media outlets.

Social Media Brand Analysis Overview

In another piece from my Public Relations Writing course, in this document, I took an in-depth look at a brand's social media platform. For this project, I took a look at Taylor Swift's brand representatives and most active social media "HQ" Taylor Nation.

While I would've liked to spend more time connecting the content directly and diving in-depth more, I love this topic and loved researching and writing about the way Taylor's brand uses trends and analytics to their advantage.

Social Media Strategy Project

In my Professional Uses of Social Media Course, I spent the semester creating a social media strategy for singer and actor Harry Styles. I embedded the website I created to display the body of work, complete with an analysis based on research and analytics, mock up content posts, and my ideas to push his "brand" forward.
